"Garmin sez:
I would be happy to help you and can understand your frustration. TPMS issues can sometimes be difficult to troubleshoot if you do not have a unit that is currently paired with a bike on hand. Unfortunately, I'm unable to test this 'in house' as I'd need to pair the zumo 590 I do have, in order to check for a disable option. I've checked the manual as well as all other documentation I have for the TPMS app. I do find that the 'Sensor is disconnected' error will display in certain situations, one being if the zumo is used on a different vehicle, or the sensors are removed from the bike. I'm not finding any information on temporarily disabling the app once it has been paired. Since I'm in the office, and currently unable to pair with a motorcycle to test, I can only suggest to try the following:
Touch Apps>TPMS>Touch the Menu key, (3 horizontal bars in the upper left), check for a disable option here
In the event that you are not seeing any option to disable, I have forwarded this issue to a specialist who has the ability to test this, if necessary. We will reply back to you as soon as possible. Please allow a few business days to receive a reply. If there is not a 'Disable' option, we should be able to provide you with a work-around, at least temporarily.
I do apologize for the inconvenience, and will get back to you very soon.
I've replied to point out that there is no disable choice in that menu (Touch Apps>TPMS>Touch the Menu key, (3 horizontal bars in the upper left)), and that I use the 590 on a bike with sensors, a bike without sensors and a car."
Et la suite:
"Well, it looks like Garmin programmers are unable to create firmware that turns off the TPMS when the 590 is in the auto cradle, at least for now. Here is their description of how they're writing new firmware to deal with the issue:
Dear xxx,
Thank you for providing this information. A software update will be released in the near future that will correct this issue. With the new update, you will only be notified once per power cycle of the zumo. At this time, there is no option to completely disable the TPMS feature. Please continue to check for updates using our Garmin Express program, which you may download at [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] if you do not already have it installed on your computer.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let me know.
With Best Regards,

(Emphasis added.) The upshot apparently is that because my 590 is used with TPMS sensors on one motorcycle, warnings will continue to display when mounted on vehicles (cars or otherwise) without TPMS sensors, but less often. I'm certainly no code writer, and I'm unable to judge what can and cannot be programmed, but this seems to be more of a patch to reduce annoyance rather than a well-thought-out fix. It's a compromise; I can deal with it. I really like the TPMS application on the 590."
